Timeline: Just before the team enters Memoria

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: He's an accomplished knight with extensive sword training. His arsenal includes (but not limited to) Darkside, an ability that draws from his lifeforce in order to cause damage; Shock, an extremely powerful attack; and Armor Break, an attack that destroys the opponent's defenses. When paired with the Black Mage Vivi, Steiner has access to Magic Sword. Vivi casts magic on Steiner's sword, allowing it to take on the attributes of the spell. Example: if Fire is cast, Steiner causes both physical and fire damage. If the spell is Flare, the damage is more extensive and non-elemental.
How would they use their abilities?: Steiner would go out of his way to protect those in need... whether they want protection or not.
Appearance:
Background/Personality: Not much is known about Steiner's early life. He entered the Pluto Knights at some point and climbed the ranks to become the captain. Under him, he employs eight other knights, said to be the finest outside of General Beatrix's troops. All of them vow to watch over and protect Princess Garnet til Alexandros, the princess of Alexandria. When the princess was kidnapped during a performance, Steiner scrambled to find the culprits, determined to show up Beatrix. His search eventually led him to the castle's towers, where he spotted a young man chasing the princess! He tried to pursue them, but he had several near misses. Soon he found himself stuck with the theatre troop that was performing that night, yet his charge was still out of his reach. When the troop left the castle (kidnapping both the princess and the knight in the process), their ship was damaged by the queen's arsenal. It plummeted into the Evil Forest, where the princess was thrust into even more danger.
Steiner was reluctant to help the kidnappers despite fighting alongside them against some of the forest denizens. He agreed since it was his sworn duty to protect his princess, and only if they could take Vivi, a small black mage, with them. They battled through the forest and saved the princess, though it cost a troop member his life. Steiner scolded the surviving troop member, Zidane, on his careless acts. He wanted to take Garnet back to the castle as soon as possible, but Zidane challenged him since they had no way of going back up to Alexandria. The knight refused to yield, but he insisted on protecting the campsite so everyone, especially the princess, could get some rest.
Their journey continued through the Ice Cavern and onto Dali, where there were some odd things going on. Steiner tried to beg the princess to return with him to the castle, but she blatantly refused. Zidane swore to protect her, much to Steiner's dismay. He tries to occupy his time by helping a young shopkeeper with her chores, realizing that there are very few adults in town. The girl tells him about the cargo ship, the only real transportation in Dali. He thanks her for the information and leaves, hoping to find a way onto the ship with the princess.
Steiner realized that the rest of the team was hiding out in the barrels that were scheduled to be taken on board (by stabbing and/or tipping it over). He pretended the ship was headed to Lindblum, Garnet and Zidane's destination. In fact, it was going to Alexandria, just where Steiner wanted to head. Before they could sneak aboard, the team was attacked by an odd black mage called the Black Waltz.
